Our Woodend rooms
Our Woodend clinic is inside Woodend Consulting Rooms on High Street, among the shops and a few minutes from the railway station. The room is bright and unfussy — a couch, a rug, a window, a box of tissues within reach. It is a comfortable place to say difficult things.
If the noise and movement of a larger practice is part of what makes appointments exhausting, tell us when you book and we will work around it.
Who we see in Woodend
We see teens from 12 and adults here, from Woodend, Macedon and Mount Macedon, and from Kyneton, Trentham, Carlsruhe and Lancefield. For many people in the northern Macedon Ranges, the alternative to a local room is an hour each way to Bendigo or Melbourne.
That distance matters more than it sounds. It is one of the ordinary, unglamorous reasons people put off getting help for another year — and removing it is much of the point of consulting here.
What happens at a first appointment
The first appointment is 60 minutes. We take a full history before suggesting anything — what has been going on, what you have already tried, your physical health, your sleep, and who is around you.
As a Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, Lindsay can assess, diagnose, provide counselling and therapy, and prescribe or deprescribe medication. For adolescents, care is developmentally attuned and families are brought in collaboratively rather than by default.
No GP referral or Mental Health Care Plan is needed, and Medicare rebates apply to every appointment. You can refer yourself by phone or email.
Neuroaffirming care, close to home
Many of the people we see are autistic, ADHD, or both — often diagnosed late, and often after years of being treated for the anxiety and burnout that masking produced, rather than for the fit between them and their environment.
Care here is neuroaffirming as a matter of course. Eye contact is not required. You can ask what the room is like before you come, bring notes, or answer in writing on a day when speaking is hard.
We support individuals and families looking into neurodivergence. This might include recommendations for diagnostic assessments through local or telehealth paediatricians, psychologists, or psychiatry providers. Lindsay specialises in providing support in all stages of this process. This includes evidence-informed and co-created interventions that target emotional regulation, communication, social emotional learning, environmental modifications, executive functioning and overall quality of life.
